Let me try again emily

OK, the first time I tried to make a thread apparently I had to many basic questions and my thread was closed.
Unfortunately, not all my questions were answered by the FAQ thread. So let me copy and paste and hopefully the mod will be generous enough not to close my thread. :)
I would like to turbocharge but I'm not sure if that will be enough to make a fast del sol. Any ideas for a motor swap? It would be nice to break the 190 hp mark. I would like to be able to run low 14s or high 13s but I'm not sure this is possible.
My point was to find out if any members had any knowledge about tweaking the 1.6 to make as much hp as possible without compromising to much reliability.

1.6 DOHC or SOHC? on a DOHC, you'll make 190 easy with a turbo... shoot you could get a good engine build and make 190.
SOHC you'd have to do some block reinforcement and stuff to hit 190.

dohc you can hit 190WHP all motor even but with a c1 good tune about 300WHP is resonable at 10PSI
I think mase got 400WHP out of stock gutted GSR *holds record for tuning*

I'm only familiar with naturally aspirated motors so this is going to be a learning experience for me. I want a somewhat built 1.6 dohc with a turbo. I've read that this means I need some different internals such as pistons and what not to withstand the high amounts of boost. I have done very little research so my knowledge is limited. I also would like to do the motor building myself.
This car will become a daily driver so reliability is a concern. That means I can't build a 400hp monster but with high amounts of boost I could make some descent runs down the track. I want the car to compete at Nopi Nationals in Atlanta Ga and one other show in Florida. I was going to try to make the deadline this year but it is highly unlikely I can build a car alone in just over a month.
My other concern was the compression for these motors are already high how much abuse can these small motors take?

the reason for the internals is to lower compression. Out of the box, the 1.6L DOHC VTEC motors are running 10.6:1 compression. That's high. The rods, pistons, etc, lower that down to anywhere from 8.5:1 to 9.5:1. Think about it this way.. you can either do high comp, low boost (like under 6lbs) or low comp (8.5:1), high boost. Either way, they're quick. If you really wanna build a turbo monster, I suggest using a b18b1 as your base motor. 1.8L Non-VTEC DOHC block. I think the compression on it is like 9.1:1 or something like that. It's perfect for handling a pretty good amount of boost. And honda motors take a beating and keep on goin :)
And about Nopi.. you should go no matter what your car looks like. This year I've got a bone stock, automatic del Sol entered (other car wasn't done in time... damn). I'm gonna try to get a new coat of clearcoat on the one I'm entering so I can argue that it's clean, but we'll see. Think of it this way... you enter your car for $80. For $80 you get two weekend passes, a place to sit, and (if you're cool like me) a place to put your beer cooler. Or, you can not show, and pay $75 for one weekend pass, no place to sit, and have to buy drinks there at like $2 a pop. Yeah I'll pay the extra $5 for all the fun stuff. :)

I missed last year. I had a friend I was going with in his new corvette because I cracked both rear rims on my pontiac. I backed out at the last because I had 3 major exams. On the way there he was hit by an F150 and it ended his life. Some major rough stuff I wanted to build the car in his memory.
Hope to see you up there this year I will keep an eye out for the stock sol hopefully it shouldn't be to hard to find. What color?

Red. :) Hell you can look for any del Sol there... they'll know me. I've owned del Sols for 5 years now. I've seen them come and go, and I know just about everyone in the del Sol community.. especially the modified community. I might switch and enter my blue car with a GSR block in it, but it's all gonna depend on if the car is running or not. *crosses fingers that she can get the car running and looking decent in 4 weeks*

There was a green metallic del sol on the nopi site some time back. He was a local guy I saw around town all the time. He was the guy who first got me interested in the del sols. They said he won some big award like best of show or best in class or something. I forgot his name.

You don't know me. Well, now you do, at least of me, I'll have my sol at NOPI, it is just an almost stock S (after market wheels). Like you I just used it to get in and have it there. Maybe I'll see you there. My car will be over with the car club holyrollerz. peace.
