What is the firing order on a 1999 V-6? (1MZ-FE Engine)

I've seen two different orders already, and one was real bad, and the other was still wrong (could feel it wasn't running on all cylinders). This is for a 1MZ-FE engine in a 1999 Camry. I changed the valve cover & spark plug gaskets, spark plugs, and wires for a friend and forgot to note the order the wires went. I tried searching but couldn't search for v6, 99, or 6, and the keywords that did search turned up nothing. I thought that was pretty useless.

Thanks in Advance...

Welcome to the AF!

Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6

No 1 cylinder is nearest accessories, on right bank (nearest passenger seat) No 3 cylinder is next one to rear on that bank. No 2 cylinder is front cylinder on bank nearest radiator.

<=front of engine (accessory belts, passenger side of car)
1-3-5
2-4-6

Hey, thanks for the greetings.

The first combination I did the wires was cylinder 1 to coil on 2, cylinder 3 to coil on 4, and cylinder 5 to coil on 6.

I was getting some ping every now and then, and the engine was shaking pretty horrible. And wanted to die w/ any attempt to put a load on it (ie... AC, putting in gear w/ A/T)

I heard the order was model specific and not all 1MZ-FE engines have the same fire order.

Any advice?

Well I figured it out...

The first method I tried was on a website when I search for 1MZ-FE, gave me 1-2,3-4,5-6. This was the first thing I tried, was running off 3 cylinders. The next method I tried was what the Haynes manual said, the generation that includes the v-6 '97 drove the coils 1-4, 2-5, 3-6, causing me to drive off 4 cylinders. Well I thought bank one was the bumper most bank, making the cylinder labels the following:

2-4-6
1-3-5

You corrected me on that telling me it's:

1-3-5
2-4-6

...and wollah, the Haynes was right:

The firing order is: 1-4,2-5,3-6

Meaning (for anyone else who doesn't know longitudnal v-6 orientation) the plugs should be connected in this order in the engine bay:

a c b
b a c

Thanks for the clarification - What years 1MZ-FE have the firing order 1-4-2-5-3-6 ?

Sorry for the misinformation. I don't remember a previous example of an engine of the same series changing the firing order.

97, when all 1mz-fe's got their revised intake, and a few minor changes.
