making the 2.0L fly

ok...i'm getting a 99.5 2.0L 4 cyl Jetta, and i want to make it fly. What is the engine code, and how easy will it be to make it fast? I'm willing to spend whatever i need to. I just want to make it fast enough to stomp on those Mustang GTs and those stupid Prelude h22a's.

am i going to have to go forced induction, or can i stay naturally aspirated to achieve this? THanks.

You'll have to force it = Turbo or even better you may want to go with a supercharger

-Full intake replacement Supercharger and throttle body replacement, hood scoop
-Full race ex. with headers -get the stock ex. manifold OUT
-Get an ignition system and a performance chip and get the timing mapped on a dyno
-You will want to change the tranny gearing unless you want to start off in 3rd and then shift to 5th.

Thats the easy things (bolt on), after that you can get deep into it..

-Racing CAM and rockers
-Port and polish
-Plate cyclinders and replace Pistons with cast high compression racing ones to get your "Squish" to a minimum. You will also do the valves, rods and bearings at this point -now you can start thinking NOS
-Lighten the car as much as possible. Remove extra seats, spare tire, aftermarket cooling system

At this point you will be good competition. But a V8 with the work above will destroy you.

You have a lot of work ahead of you...
