hello all, i have an 03 alero, I4 2.2 ecotec engine. about 3wks ago my girlfriend hit a rock and dented the rim. eventually the tire went flat. i needed a new rim, as well as tires. i ordered a rim off of ebay. in the mean time we riding on a donut for about 3wks. yesterday she took the car took get new tires in the front. now there is a wierd humming noise coming from the same side that the new rim is on. there is no shaking or vibration. just a wierd noise which gets louder as we pik up speed. here's the even wierder part - when you turn the wheel to the right the noise stops, yet while riding straight or turning to the left the noise is there!!!!!!!! anyy and all help would be greatly appreciated. the tire are bf goodrich touring t/a pro-series. purchased and installed at our local sams club. also the original tires on the car are bf goodrich touring t/a but they have se4 or something like that after the touring t/a portion. can anyone please help me understand the difference between the two and help me troubleshoot this situation to pinpoint the problem with the noise. thank you all. and one more thing there is a little ove 45000 miles on the car if this helps any.

The hum is probably a wheel bearing going bad and has nothing to do with the tires. If you hit the rock hard enough to dent the rim then you probably damaged the bearing too. The use of the donut for that long probably contributed to the problem somewhat.
The difference in the tires is probably something in the tread design or compound and really means nothing at this point.
