hey whats goin on guys I really need a 5sfe block the cheapest I've found soo far is 450 bucks, and that seems a little steep if anyone out there knows where I can find one for a reasonable price let me know, also I am lookin for pistons and rods for a 5sfe that can handle roughly 15 pounds of boost, Ive found lots of stuff for a 3sgte but not much for the 5sfe, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

yeah I get most of my stuff off of ebay I thought about the 3sgte block but I have all the gaskets and stuff for the 5sfe block not sure how many of them would match up, and I already have the 5sfe head plus I really want the extra .2 liters but then again I guess its not a really big deal those extra .2 when your runnin a shit ton of boost, anyways thanks for the reply if I can get a ton of people to verify the 3sgte block with the 5sfe head, then I'll look for both but I'd really kind of like too stick with the 5sfe block if I could, soo if anyone out there has one I'm more then interested thanks!!!

Hey you are awesome thanks thats just what I wanted too here. are the engine mounts the same and everything and will the front wheel drive trans fit that I have for the 5sfe if all that will fit with no mods I would be happy to go with the 3sgte cause it is way easier to find pistons and rods and engine mods on ebay than it is for the 5sfe. thanks

thanks guys for your replys I have noticed that my questions were pretty redundant with those already posted, and if I had read them I may have not needed to waste your guys time, but I thankyou for helping me out anyways, I am right now in the midst of trying too find a 3sgte engine, once I do that I can get my arias rods and je pistons, and then decide on the turbo its gonna be a fun project I'm gonna try and push about 15 pounds of boost I'll post pics of it when its all done and let you know what it does in the 1/4 if anyone knows where I can get a 3sgte block for a reasonable price let me know I'll take it off them faster then a crack head can take a hit. thanks guys

you could just buy a whole 3sgte engine and use the block and turbo off it that will cost you about 1000 or were u talkin about doing that anyways im not sure.

the sotck pisonts and rods on the 3sgte are good for about 25 psi, thers no need to rebuild with all that stuff because u wont make barley and more power and itll cost alot less. the only thing it would do is be able to revv hightger (aftermarket pisotns/rods are alwasys lighter)

omg i suck at online spelling

well if you want to turbo a 3sgte turbo is cheaper than any kit you can buy.

I have always been told that the stock 3sgte was only good for around a max like 10 pounds recommended 5-7, these new pistons and rods are rated for about 30-32 psi, but I could be wrong I've been wrong before can anyone second that, the 3sgte stock pistons and rods can take up to 25 pounds thats an aweful lot of boost for a stock engine.

i dont know if they can take 25 but they can def. take moree than 10. the 3sgte is a powerful engine and can handle alot. u may be thinking of the 5sfe sause it can only handle about 8.

head over to the mr2 forums and check out someone named jekyleandhyde, he (was) running 23 pounds of boost on a 3sgte with 189,000 miles on it with stock pistons and rods

Dang thats awesome well I won't be adding that much boost, but you probably just saved me about 900 dollars, and for that you are my new friend lol, is it a big deal that I am gonna put that 5sfe head on there cause I already have a rebuilt head I'd kidn of like too use it, or should I stick to the 3sgte head.

either way youd have alot of power, its all about how much power you want, do you want to end up goin crazzy and getting like 400+ HP or are you just lookin for like 250 hp? in all honesty youll get better gas mielage with the 5sfe but it wont have as much potential as the g head because all the aftermartket support and the way the head is set up. the 3sgte has side intake ports, the g head has a steep valve angle 50 degrees i think and the f head has a more narrow 22.5 degrees, this resusltes in better power/better gas mieleage

I was hopin too push a little bit more then 350 hp I'm still tryin too find a 3sgte block, I have a lot of the 3sgte parts already like manifolds, I just wanna buy a block and build it up, but its hard too find the block without getting the whole engine, I wanna push about 15 pounds of boost. but before I do that I gotta get ahold of one of those stinkin blocks. I passed up on one that was on ebay a week ago, and I wish really bad right now that I would have bought it, it went for like 99 bucks, if you or anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know.
