hey guys i was wondering if u can help me out. over the weekend i decided to put my airfilter to my 95 g20 (simple i know) but for some reson when i tried to start the car, my car would shut down immediatly after. what could this problem be. Could it be the job i did or is it the air sensors. what do you guys think.

what kind of filter?

Is it a replacement element, or an entire induction kit?
i.e. I take it you didn't mess with the airflow sensor on the intake tube?

There are three possibilities:

1. you've got a blockage in the airflow. This'll 'choke' the car up and you won't be able to rev much.

2. you've knackered the airflow sensor and the ECU is dumping the wrong amount of fuel in. Doing an ECU diagnostic should show this. (also check the cables).

3. you air filter is too small for the engine (unlikely).

hope this helps...

all i tried to put was the aftermarket air filter itself not the whole pipe. should i do the whole thing. is that the reason why or is it something else. if so what should i get.

what did you do with the sensor that was connected to the stock airbox? it should be tapped into the top of the air cone filter or near it at least. if it has that metal cover over the top of the filter, just drill into that and attach it.

the sensor should not matter because right now im riding without mine in. the reason why it may not start is because the whire harenss may not be connect correctly to the MAF (the meatl peice that you attached you filter to). there should be a connector on that and thena loose conector you probably unhooked from it check that. cause i forgot to out mine back on and mine wouldnt start either
