84 Diesel Rabbit...Just Idle-ing

Hi, i got a 84 diesel rabbit, have been doing some work to it, put in an injector pump i got off of ebay, seemed to be in pretty good shape. anyways, it takes a sec to start up after its been sitting a while, but it idles really fine like. the problem is, that is all it does, no accelerating, turn the accelerator lever and not a thing, just idles... anybody have any ideas?
much appreciated... it's this close (thumb and index finger very close together) to getting towed away to the kidney foundation.
