paint used on intake plenum? (Post #1)

I am trying to restore the original look of the plenum on engine, but no one knows what the original color for the 3.8 liter engine really is. My paint was flaking off, and along with the rust, there were some corrosion areas that had eaten through the surface of the paint. I have a VIN code (B) engine from 1986. Can you help me determine what the original color was and where can I get some, or who makes it.

I have had the plenum glass beaten already and now looks fine but am still wondering what the original paint was. Appearantly the paint was used to prvent rust from forming.

Are you sure it was painted, I thought they were aluminum with maybe a clear similar to what they use on aluminum wheels.
