Hey i just got a 68 javelin with a 290 for a pretty good price. I plan to super charge it years from now and go all motor for now, what do i need to do first before i can put a mild cam in and super charge? In order please. :P I hear i can't put a mild cam in the engine unless i sup it up and stuff or i mgith mess it up.

Personally, I'd recommend shopping for a larger engine. A 1970 or newer 360, 390, or 401 is what you desire. Make sure it has the dogleg ports on the heads.

What transmission do you have? The Borg-warner Auto wasn't very good from a performance perspective, but the 727 is fine, if it's a 4-speed you're fine.

You won't necessarily mess up your motor with a cam, but you won't gain much power with the tiny motor. It would be a much more worthwhile investment to get a larger motor, as they bolt straight in, all AMC V-8s in that period were externally identical.
