Well...i had been hearing a constant ticking noise, and i assumed it was just a lifter tick, and i wasn't going to worry about it yet. Today as i was driving to work i noticed that the temp guage was reading beyond the top limit... And then the check engine light came on... I check the overfill tank for the coolant and when i opened it steam came rolling out of it... I work at a GM dealer and thankfully there's one guy here who will be able to check my MIL for me with a generic scan tool... I dont even want to think about what this is going to be. Anyone have any similar problems?

I had the steam problem. Get a coolant flush. Had buildup in mine. I don't what what the tick can be. Probably lifter tick, but thats unrelated to the collant situation.

I'll probably end up doing that, but i want to see what the CEL is first.

Mk... It was a gallon low on coolant, it has a idle speed code, and an egine overheating code...obviously. Turns out after a pressure test that my upper radiator pipe had a very slow leak to it, and it finally got low enough this morning. He's currently fixing the idle problem as we speak, because all he had to do was tighten the hose down... go figure.. There was speculation at first it might have been a head gasket leak..which pays 10 hours flat rate...which would have screwed me bad.

Edit: Thermostat was stuck closed! Easy fix for Josh!
