Sorry I don't have pics yet...

I finished sealing up my sunroof. I didn't have the right welder so I used pop rivets and bondo over it. It was my first attempt at bondo and I pretty much suck at it so it's not as smooth as I'd like. I can always sand it away though and try again. From a distance it doesn't look that bad though. What I'd like to do is get some carbon fiber fabric so I can cover over my roof. I don't want it to look like some cheesy pimp-mobile though with thick puffy vinyl or whatever. I think a layer of cf over the roof and maybe down the A-pillars would set it off. Anybody know where to get thin sheets of cf like this? Thanks.

Might want to see if this place could just sell you the fabric before it's coated.

Other wise looks like Ebay is your best bet.

Yah... that ebay is actually expensive compared to other sites like that one you posted. I live in SC so I may go around to Textile facilities asking if they have any pre-coated CF fabric. I'll post pics of the shitty bondo job I did, and then of it covered up

Shouldn't be a problem of having it, more of an issue if they'll sell it to you like that.

How come it wasn't the right welder anyways? Just wonderin.

The mig welder wouldn't go low enough in temperature and we were afraid to cut straight through the roof. I know I should have welded it to avoid this crappy ass looking bondo but I think I'm more concerned with the effects the fumes from painting inside has had on me... LOL :eek7: Anyway, honestly, the aerodynamics are definitely improved and noticeable at high speed.

aeros improved with having metal instead of the sunroof there? I would think the air would travel over the roof pretty much the same as if the sunroof was there or a piece of metal was there. They are both flat but the metal would be lighter reducing the wieght above your head so the wieght loss my be improving your something. lol

I did the same thing to my car but i welded steel rods across it to reinforce it laid thin sheetmetal across that and then light body on that it turned out real good ill post up some pics to show ya when i get some extra time.............. you wouldnt even notice it was there inless you see inside the car and see that sunroof its kind of cool haha

Compared to the cracked plexiglas and the lack of all that weight, yeah it makes a difference...

Yea I know how that is. I was thinking maybe you had a Arc welder. Migs can normally get low enough just have to have some thin wire also. I run CO2 on mine (helps alot) and it'll weld super thin sheets, but it does take some practice. Like u said aerodynamics should be the same, but it's like a 30lbs reduction on the top side that u really feel.

Just letting him know he might be able to still do it that way if he feels like even with out a gas setup on his mig. It's all possable just practice and the right wire. Using a chunk of brass or aluminum as a heat sink will help also. And if that came out the wrong way I do apologize.
