Buying a used 01 Jetta..

Hi,
I am considering to buy a used standard Jetta, probably an 00 or 01 model. Right now, I am leaning towards the '01 Jetta 1.8 Turbo Wolfsburg Edition. There are also a couple '00 GLS VR6 models that I might look into. The only problem with this car is its reviews. I have read on the internet that there are many problems with the Jetta such as clutch problems, engine, window problems, braking, etc.
Are these problems really common? Cuz it seems like alot of people are having problems with their Jetta. Whats the deal here?
