81 Caprice Coupe, A/C stopped working all of a sudden, no fan operation. I checked the fuse and found that it had melted in the slot. It took a pair of needle nose pliers to get half of the fuse out. On the right side of the fuse slot the metal part of the fuse was stuck and after working with it I finally got all of the old fuse out. Now my problem is I don't have the copper connector on the right side of the fuse slot holder on the fuse block. I don't know if I pushed the connector back into the fuse block or it burned into. Does anyone know if a fuse block can be separated, or its going to require a new fuse block to fix my A/C? Man its been a hundred degrees here, and of all the time for the A/C to break. If I don't get the fan blowing again I will not have heat either in the winter.

Try taking down the entire fuse panel (it should only be a few screws) and look behind it. Find the two wires that go into the fuse block, and cut them. Then install an in-line fuse that will connect the two wires together.
