Guys i love my car so much and the last thing i wanna do is hurt her. She has almost 80,000 miles and was my uncles before mine i know it was driven gently. But i try to stay out of VTEC as much as possible but its so addicting. I hit vtec like 8-10 times a day but never past like 6,000-6,5000 is this hard on my motor. I also keep the oil changed regularly.STEVE

No, its not that bad for your car. Revving higher than the redline is whats going to hurt more than anything.

Honda wouldnt put VTEC in their cars for nothing, it wont hurt your lude.. But if you rev past the redline be prepared to fix something.

Just keep checking your oil. VTEC seems to burn a lot of oil.

honda motors are meant to rev high, i've put mine into redline a couple of times, and never had a problem with once. but one thing i would suggest for you silverbullet, is getting your throttle body cleaned, or at least checked, because if it's been babied for 80000 miles, then the throttle body is going to be full of carbon deposits. that's one good thing about revving high, it gets all that crap out of there. i cleaned mine in march of last year, and it's still as clean as a whistle (whatever that means). just a thought, feel free to argue if you please.

Of course hondas are "made" to rev high....But, in the same respect, no its not "good" for it. I am a full on advocate of driving the piss put of it to keep everything cleaned out, but getting into VTEC 8-10 times a day is a little excessive. Even if your motor is built to rev high, it will always cause more damage than driving it in the recommended RPM range. Things get hotter, oil gets thinner, and more wear occurs at higher rpms. No, your not paticularly hurting anything, but take the same two cars and drive one like you drive yours, and drive one as the manual recommends, and i think we all know which will last longer.

i never said that i go into vtec 8-10 times a day. at least that what i'm reading. when i said that i've went past redline before a couple times, i meant over the course of about a year and a half. not every single day. that ruin your motor in a matter of months. i use vtec when neccesary, that's it, nothing more. you shouldn't go around making false accusations private, not everybody drives their car like a grandma. (no offense to the odler generation out there) Again, feel free to argue, just don't make up things to try and make your point.

:banghead:This is why people are so ignorant on this forum. Did you even happen to read what the original post said. Silverbullet said he gets into VTEC 8-10 times a day. So where do you come off thinking that i am even directing my post at you? What because i started my post off with one thing you said in yours?:screwy: Grow up, the world doesn't revolve around you and every post you make. I read an entire thread before i post, so i don't repeat something someone already posted and also so i don't make the mistake that you did thinking i was talking to you. Please learn to use this forum properly before posting. thank-you. :owned:

yep. sorry. that was my mistake. it seemed you were attacking me and i was wrong. i just always try and address who i'm talking to in my posts and you posted right after me, private, so i assumed. but i guess it's like everybody says, when you assume you make an ass out of u and me. pretty much just me, but whatever. no hard feelings, just maybe quote or address your posts in the future, i think it makes it a little easier for everyone. i wasn't trying to be ignorant either, but i realize i did come off a little that way. again, no hard feelings. :sorry: :sadwavey:

hey man, no problem. It happens to the best of us. And my bad on attacking you back, you know, it's just human nature. i really appreciate the fact that you can man up to it. It deserves more respect in my book than someone who tries to continously argue. so, a big  to you.
