Tire width?

i have bought a set of schocks and springs for my lx that will lower it 1.75 inches. i am gonig to buy 16 inch wheels to go with it, but i have some fitting issues: if i put 245/40-16 tires on the car will they rub during turns? i am just hoping that somebody else has experience here. also, 245/40-16 is less common, anybody know of a good place to get them for good value and quality? and if they do rub do u think i could buy spacers so they wouldnt?

245's will not work, I suggest you do some research @ www.tirerack.com for the proper plus sizing.

why do u say they wont work i mean the wider the tire the better the traction and cornering i mean i know there is a limit where u start to loose performance but tirerack.com only suggests the 205 because its the minimum size for a 16x7, i've done the research and i've found the best 245/35-17 is the best im gonna get in my price range i'll probly have to add spacers so the tires wont rub but thats all

They won't work becuase they are WAAAYYYYY TO WIDE....end of story.
245 is WAAAYYY to wide. Stick wth 205/40/17...or 205/45/16. 215 is the max width tires on a civic. 245 is way to wide.

They wont work because they will rub or might not even fit period. Most people that race their civic's dont even use 245's. Sure they grip better due to the larger contact patch, but a larger contact patch creates more drag which slows the car down and a civic needs all it an get. Also bigger tires are heavier and the last thing you want to do is add rotational mass, the whole point it to make it lighter for performance. Adding 1lb to the wheels, tires, or brakes is like adding 8lbs to the car. It also makes your suspension work much harder & brakes.
Instead of going crazy with the tires, get good rec, plus sized tires & do your suspension.
Do you mean 16" no way 17" will work on 16's.

hard to find. and expensive. too wide. you wont need em this wide on 16s.
