Broken power seat?

I was detailing my 2000 528iT to sell it. While putting the driver's seat back (tilting the back) to clean the leather, it just stopped (I have the 10-way power seats). I tried putting it back up, but it just wouldn't move. When I push the switch towards the front or back, the motor just clicks once (but doesn't move). I made an appointment (at the BMW dealer) to have it fixed, but the morning I was going to take it in, I tried the seat again and it worked! So, I cancelled my appointment, and advertised my car in the newspaper to sell (since everything was working). That evening I tried the seat again, and it had the same problem as before. Just clicked once and didn't move! What is the problem with the seat motor? Is it something simple I could fix myself (I tried the fuses).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have a '92 so I don't know if my seat controls are like yours, but the other day the same thing happened to me, only it was the up an down switch. Maybe this will help you anyway. On my car....
The reclining seats are controlled by one motor with a cable running to each side. Usually one of the cables comes out of the motor and in turn makes the seat "twist." ....And the fix it to shorten the cable casing (not the cable) and reattach it. However, in your case it sounds like power is not getting to the motor. Probably because the switch on the side of the seat is dirty or the contacts are wearing out. Try removing the switch by taking off the plastic cover screws (torx) and spray contact cleaner in the switch... or better still...go to ebay and buy a replacement switch. In the meantime, don't recline your seat.
