Is at absolutely necessary to have both the top and bottom heatshields on? Im feeling really lazy right now after the 16g install and wondering if i can just leave them off for a while until i have time to put them on. thanks guys!

It should be fine to run without them.

Dont put them back on period. You dont need them. As long as you have the heat sheild on your hood it wont do a thing. It keeps the turbo cooler and its SOOO much easier to work on the turbo or around it. They are not necessary and are only there to keep curious new owners from touching the 800+ degree components (manifold and turbo).

First off, the turbo works off of heat. Expanding air moving in the path of least resistance. So anything that keeps the heat in (at least on the exhaust side) helps. Second, look how close the alternator is to the exhaust. I burned up 2 alternators and completely melted the AC fan because I didn't put the heat shields back on after I installed my big 16. I was running 18psi daily driven and sitting in traffic you have very little air flow. Granted, I was driving the car a LOT, but I still think it's a good idea to put them back in place. I cut my bottom shield around the O2 sensor cause that little slut wouldn't come out.
