Headers

I was just wondering if it was worth spending 300+ dollars on headers, is it worth upgrading the stock headers to performance headers, will there be a noticeable diffrence? Thanks in advance for any help.

It is pronounced "header", and it depends on if you are turbo or not. The consensus is that turbo cars are better off with the stock header, N/T could benefit from an upgrade.

Actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it called a "manifold" on turbo cars? If it's the non turbo dsm, it's only a header, not headers. Now say you are talking about a v8 mustang, that would be headers.

ok I miss pronounced the word, but im just looking to see if getting a header is worth 300 dollars, how much of a diffrence are we looking at in performance with a quality aftermarket header?

uhhh......how is the guy gonna know for next time if nobody tells him.

To answer the question, you probably won't get more than like 7-8 hp if you just get a header. If you have an intake and larger exhaust, you might get closer to 10 hp out of just the header itself. Overall a decent mod for a N/T car.

yes it is called the "exhaust manifold" for turbo cars; something i just learned, and i think most 1g owners would say that 1g manifolds are horrible and always crack, usually most 1g upgrades are to the 2g manifolds, due to better desgin, but it all matters if you get a bigger turbo and exhaust setup, then yes the manifold will give you results, those are my 2 pesos

id say your looking at maybe 3-5 hp. What kind of car do you have? It would be easier to say if we knew the engine but its still about pointless and complete hearsay because every engine is just a lil diferent. Theres really just one way to find out and thats too put in on and dyno.

If your working with a 2g n/t I can tell ya you can put on just about every bolt on and not break 170-180 to the fly. I'v given up on spending over a grand in bolt ons for a grand total gain of not much lol.

It adds up fast.

300 for a header
400 for an exhaust
50 for a intake
150 for a pulley
250 for some cam gears

ect ect... you can throw away a grand or more quick and not have but 20-25 hp to show for it... all those 8hp for this 10-15hp for that shit is total bs... least thats my 3 cents worth.. peace
