TVR Cerbera Vs. Nissan Skyline...

All honesty people do you think a Skyline could keep up with a V8 lighter then air Cerbera lol. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it would be very unlikely. I am a Skyline fan don't get me wrong. But after the the jump, which the Skyline would get a great one at that. It would stop acceling. and the Cerbera would just eat it up. Then again I think a RX-7 would do the same. Once the RX-7 winds up it out just explode pass the Skyline. I'm not trying to make any ememies on here just want your honest thoughts about this issue.

Well, that is the difference in horsepower and torgue. If you give GT-R more boost, Cerbera will be the one to be eaten up ;)
Welcome to AF, btw, I hope you enjoy your stay here, and let me know if you have any questions or problems ;)

If Igor sees this, he'll pop a gasket! I think that RX-7 statement is definitely unfounded. A skyline will blow it away.

Well my dad is bigger than your dad:finger:
There will always be someone out there that can smoke you. Give some VALID 1/4 times, and we will talk. Other than that, talk is cheap.
What makes the rx7 so bad is its ability to spin, but that engine has no toque to help it get out of its own way. I do like them, but only if it was capable of producing some torque.
Oh, and like you will ever own Cerbera.

The Cerbera will blow the GT-R and RX-7 and Supra Turbo away. It's lighter and has more power and torque. But they all handle very well. Still, once again the Cerbera is faster though. To tell you the truth though I haven't driven an RX-7 as crazy as I drove the TVR, GT-R and Supra so it's more of a wild card for me. :D

Living, only 10 minutes away from Blackpool where they make that TVR junk, I have raced a Cerbera. (in my R33)
Between 60 and approx 150mph he did pull away from me, but only by what looked to be about 50 metres.
In my defence, It was before I realised that I needed to be using 97 Octane fuel, and my car was running fairly standard at 320-330bhp.
I have had a play with one on the country roads too. They cannot stick with me. The suspension setup and ability to place the power onto the road cannot compete with the competance of a Skyline.
So there!
Oh yeah! And the build quality! The less said the better!

Madman, do you have to say anything to the specs posted??
Hint - "0-60 - 5.5 seconds"
Stock R34 can do 4.7.... R33 should be able to pull of high 4's as well.

Woooo....TVR...my first love! I'd always liked the TVR and when they introduced the Griffith I just couldn't sleep at night...until I bought my R33 though;) Now, there's no Cebera in M'sia but a lot of Chimera 4.5 & 4.2. I'd driven a 4.5 Chimera. Handles like shite.... especially in the rain. Build quality is sub standard....feels like a plastic car!
One fine day, I'd raced with a 4.5 Chimera. Not exactly a Cebera but about the same displacement. Whupped his arse in 2nd and left him for dead in 3rd! Waited for him about half a km later and the bugger did not even dare to come near anymore! Bring on the Cebera and I'm quite sure it would leave me in 1st and 2nd. But in 3rd or 4th, he...he...anything could happen! On te track though, I think the Cebera does not stand a chance! In last year's 12 hour endurance, the 4.5 Chimera fully worked lost to a fully worked EVO 3 (yes...EVO THREE) and a 170 hp Elise.
On the RX 7, that's a different proposition. My friend's brother has a 400 hp RX 7 and driving it I can tell you it is FAAAAST! His HKS single turbo spools up faster than you can say "boost" and the torque makes you stick to the seat with your tounge going in your throat. And this happens throughout the rev range up to 7000rpm. After driving that car, the owner asked whether I wnated to pit my 33 against his RX. I sheepishly said "no...thank you..." ( a mark of a wise man....:D )
The Supra? I'd take it on anytime. So much wheel spin and it tracks like gel on tarmac:D On the track one day, my car flew pass a Supra and it tried to chase me after the straight. After several slow and fast corners, he gave up!:flipa: :finger:
Would really love to take on a Cebera. No, not that RX 7 though!:(

Stock the RX-7 can not compete against the Skyline when it comes down to straight lines or curves, same goes for the Supra, but tweaked?! Hell a heavily modified Ford "Bogus" could be just about any stock car so not really worth talking about.:alien2:

Well, they've done MUCH faster than 3.0. They had a camaro that was basically just their "fun", I guess...0-60 in 2.2! But, it was shown up by the 1.9 mustang that was also in the same mag.

R33, I've also driven the 4.5 Chimera, and it handles great. But I must admit that I had to counterstear A LOT. Teh Cerbera is different though. But all TVRs take skill and experence to drive. They are more "manly" than the GT-R. The GT-R has all kinds of gizmos. It's no surprise that you can take the corners in it faster than the 4.5  BTW, did you drive it on the road or track?
R33
07-26-2001, 09:08 PM
Racer, I drove it for about 30km on one of those bumpy and winding road. The front felt too long and heavy and understeered quite a bit. I took the highway on the way back and it was pouring. Quite a handful in the rain.
I agree that it is more "manly"...whatever it may mean! All about raw power. I like the power delivery..instant, responsive and always eager. A bit like the Testarrosa. I have never driven it on the track but I think the handling would be awful on the track. But I could imagine going into corners slowly. Coming out of it is a different story altogether I suppose.
Having said so, the Griffith and Chimera are well in my wanted list. Can't resist that V8 sound and power delivery. The road tax though, would kill me every year!

Its true that most if not all TVR's for built quality are pretty shite for the money, nice looking cars though.
Same goes for its v8 as its not really the best in the world, and this comes from a dealer and tuner I know, were better when they were based on the rover v8 and the rover v8 is based on the buick v8.
Besides the looks I get in this country in the skyline are worth just as much as driving a ferrai, as the skyline I find to be quite rare apart from japan.
Also with regards to 0=60 the Europe based Ford RS200 using the cosworth turbo power plant mid mounted did a 0=60 in 2.3 secs and I believe to still be a record?

Good luck holding on to the V8 Powered go cart anyway...
As for build quality yeah I say it's bad, looks all nice inside with their fancy custom bits, but everywhere alse :bloated:
A friend here had a TVR, not sure the model was a while ago now, it honked though.
Friend worked on one, had to have a dry sump as it was having problems..
