There is a lot of differences between the same trucks between model years. However, on my '95 CPI 4.3, it's on the passenger side, front of the engine just above the oil pan, bolted into the very side of the cam drive chain cover. It should be literally on the passenger side-front of the engine right on the same level as the main pulley's harmonic balancer and the main crank.

You sure you don't mean crankshaft?

I was just explaining it in as much non-technical-ese as I could, but yes, it's directly perpendicular to the main crank on the passenger side-front of the engine. Well, in a '95 CPI beast like mine it is. Who knows where they hid it on a 2k model year.

No, I was talking to the thread starter.

on late 95-current it's on the timing chain cover about 7:00

im not a mechanic or anything,so correct me if i am wrong. he was asking about the camshaft position sensor. i think that you are all telling him where the crankshaft position sensor is. to my knowledge the camshaft position senson is under the distributor. i know that in my late model 95 that is where it is. if anyone has all DATA then you can see. i used to have a picture of it. in fact my car through that code for a day, then went away and never came back. i still have a camshaft position sensor at my house.

Yes, that is what I was thinking.

If you are looking at the crank from the font, as Rlith said, it is 7 o'clock on the crank.

You will see it.
