F150 overhead temp display

I have a 2002 F150 that the overhead temp display will only turn on for a second or two then fade out on its own after pushing the button several times. Everything else seems to be normal. Any ideas on what is going on. It does read the correct temp when it lights up for a second or two. :confused:
