Yo guys. I just wanted to see what you all do on a regular basis to take care of your ride. I finally got around to buying the Mr. Clean DryWash kit so I can wash my car myself, and I'm getting some ArmorAll wipes as well for my leather and dash and windows, etc. Right now I'm just doing

oil change every 3 months (or up to a certain mileage)
car wash every other week (weekly when necessary)
vaccum and clean inside of car (with wipes and such) monthly

What else should I be doing? Thanks!

LOL - yea that's why I've never bothered to have one :p

oh yea I forgot the wax. I think a once a month wax after one of my washes would be a good thing too. And what do you mean "when"?? Was this a different car or are you slacking?

I go crazy when it comes to takin car of my baby. I wash it once or twice a week, and that includes interior detailing, vacuuming, ect. The oil I change every 2 months, cuz I couldnt afford changing it every 3 weeks @ 3000 miles. Gotta look good you know.

what about wear and tear? What should I be looking for in that regard? Like how often should I check my fluids and stuff? I just had to put my tib in the shop yesterday cause my rear brake pads wore down and tore into my rotors. I guess I didn't hear any tell-tale warning sounds cause my stereo is always cranked :P I only assume it's neglect on my part since it is, after all, an 03 and not that old. Should I eyeball my pads like twice a month or something to make sure I catch them before they wear out completely? I need to learn more about cars before I end up spending more money on broken stuff I could have avoided :P

honestly out of all the threads ive read here and at NT i think like your the first for that to happen to. so that is really rare and could of been a factory fault from the start :) nothing really to worry about imo

learn to do the brakes pads your self alot cheaper

every once in a while just check the fluids and what not you dont need to do it 2 twice a month but every once in awhile or when you think something is wrong

dont feel bad about the brakes my friend wore his front pads down in his explorer and just never got them replaced. his rotors craked. cost him $1100 to get everything fixed

Well turns out I have to get my front rotors and pads replaced too - seems the previous owner torqued the wheel nuts wrong or something or other. I dunno. Anyways cost isn't a serious problem here, as my neighbor owns his own garage and he cuts me amazing deals and does all the work on my car. One of the other mechanincs is even painting my calipers for me. I just pay for parts, not labor.

ditto. I get the discount as well and I can use the shop if I need to, tho I don't do a lot of work myself - although this week I'm going to take off my tires and touch up my rims.

Anyways, that was $628 that I hope to never spend again, lol. Can't really complain tho - nice shiny new rotors and sweet yellow brake calipers. I need to take pics and finally update my cardomain site
