I'm changing cam bearings in my 350 chevy. My book tells me where to position the oil holes but it doesn't say what the order is. It numbers them but doesnt' say if the number one bearing is the front one or the rear one. Can any of you clue me in on this one. Thanks

Compare the inside diameter of them. Measure them with calipers if you have to.
The smallest inside diameter bearing goes at the rear, closest to the transmission. The next smallest is the second to the rear, etc. The largest diameter is always in front.
If you compare bearings marked #1 and #5, you can easily see which is smallest on the inside and work out how the numbers go.

Thanks for the info. Now I think I have a bigger problem on my hands. The bearings have part numbers on them but only one of them matches the part number that is supposed to be for my engine. This angers me somebody is goin down. as a strange side note I went down to my shop to put them in and wouldn't you know it the one that is the correct that I later found out had the right part number is the one I tried to install but couldn't get it to slide in. (I do have a cam bearing installer tool, thought I'd mention that before someone asked)
