I have recently noticed that when i give my silvy gas when im ideling or when it is drive there is a rattleing sound coming from under my truck. I drives great and it has excellent power but that sound is really annoying. i only notice it when i am next to another vehicle or next to a building. i am gonna go look at the heat sheil in just a moment and see if it might be hitting my floor. but any help would be much appreciated.

Without being there in person, I would say you are on the right track. The heat shield on your cat would be an excellent place to start.

i would say it is a heat shield most likely or a muffler clamp that is loose.

[COLOR=black] yeah i had the question about the 99' silvy with the ratteeling under the truck. i went to check my heat sheild and i knocked around on the exhast pipe and i could hear the noise. I then found out it was coming from my cat. that suck cause my pipes are all welded together so the only way i could take it off is to cut it off and even then i might as well get a new cat cause whats the use of putting the one back on that would probably just eventually fall of . But thanks everyone for your input. Oh yeah if anyone else knows a way i can get the ratteling out of my cat please let me know. and once again thanks for your help.

Knock out the guts of it : ) Although that might be illegal (emissions wise) in your state, and yes it will be very loud. Only because that packing inside of your cat might have broke off a peice, how, I don't know, but thats probably what your hearing. It happens in alot of Jeep Grand Cherokee's as well.

I say remove them, if you don't have visual inspections. Where I live we have no emission testing at all, so i'm taking mine off as soon as I get my rear o2 sensors turned off so i wont get a SES light.
