Ok so a week ago i spun a bearing due to low oil. I replaced the bearings, changed the oil a few times but it is still knocking. So today i took it apart a found that the the new bearing that took the place of the spun one is starting to wear extremely fast like its about to go. the rest look good. i was wondering if anybody has any idea why it is doing this. Oh and the crank appears to be in good shape still. Why would one bearing keep wearing out?

Sounds like it needs to be align honed.

you take your block in and they bore the crank journals/caps to make them strait again and all the same size/inline.

Is it just me or do dohc zc motors have a lot of problems? I'm not being sarcastic im just wondering because im thinkin about buyin another hatch and putting a zc in it for a daily driver type of thing. i wouldnt swap it at all but its an automatic and its only $300 i figure i can pick up a zc for 300-500 and have a quick little car for under a grand.

You are correct, ZC's are the most unreliable motors ever made. I'd swap in a ford motor before a zc.

could it be cuz they are like 15+ years old? I have 2, one in my crx now and one im about to start rebuilding. And riceboy you should expect problems when you dont maintain your engine, especially the oil.

im sayin compared to other motors, my a6 was still runnin strong when i pulled it out last week at 180,000 miles and it was 16 yrs old, didnt knock or smoke barely even ticked would i be better off just putting my old a6 in the other hatch?
