I am Having trouble with my air bag light going on at times I have had someone check out the codes he said that there was a wrong code in there so he reset it with the right code but it still seems to come on at times. any information that anyone might have will be very helpful. and also is it ok to still drive with the light on. Thanks

If you have a lit airbag light, it means that the system has a fault. I would not drive it in this state at all. Get it to a mechanic skilled in doing SRS repairs and/or speak to the dealership. Some airbag units in the earlier model trucks have been reported to sometimes deploy the bag when the vehicle is in motion after the Air Bag light is on for some time. Imagine that happeneing to someone while driving down the highway. I have been in a collision that poped the airbags and I can tell you now, it will scare you stiff and deafen you for a little while on top of everything else. If you have a sunroof in your truck, it will never shut watertight again because the explosion of the airbag boughs out the roof. Get it fixed, get it fixed at a pro shop. There is just no fooling around with it at home. Period.

The air bag system is crucial to safety, therefore it shouldn't be worked on by the inexperienced. If the light is on that means that there is a problem. I recommend that you have a professional check it out.

When I started working on my post above, you hadn't posted yet. I just wanted you to know that I wasn't copying you, it's good that we agree though.

No, no, this is great! See, it just makes even more sense when two laymen can point a finger and say, "Ooooh... *wince* Better get that looked at." *High-five* Good job. :)

You don't want that airbag going off in your face, it has the power of a shotgun.

Yeah its acctually got a little more power I made a homemade rocket launcher with one a few months ago but connecting the pressure canister to a peice of pipe and using a small electrical charge to set it off. The rocket was basically a m-80 inside of a metal spike shaped prejectile with an electrical charge replacing the fuse and a detinator button on the end of the rocket. I wish I had pics of it, ohh well. anyways when we shot it at an old car it went through the radiator into the engine block and compleatly destroyed the POS we found a piston head 75 foot from the car. Ohh and the reason we destroyed the car is because it was an 83 rustang with a blown v6. I ll try to get a digitall camera and get pics of it. It was really cool but i dont sudgest you do anything like this because it is considered a weapon of mass destruction and if you get cought with it you WILL go to jail.

Pfft, I know! Jeeze, everyone knows that an '83 Mustang needs no outside aid to toss a piston 75 feet... (Duck -n-RUN!) :icon16:

well i just got my blazer out of the chevy dealership and they said that my sir coil failed they also said it would cost $600 to fix I asked them if it was ok to drive with the light on for a few weeks intill I get the money together to have it fixed. he told me that no need to worry that the air bag would not go off. no now i am in the process of looking for a air bag system for my blazer over the internet.
