thermostat 5.3L

'99 gmc 5.3L
put an electric fan off an '02 crown vic police car came out pretty slick ,looks like it belongs there. now i want to change the stat.
SLP has it,neck and all $54 but sells f-body and vette stats $19 with no neck included. can my stat be removed from the neck and an f-body stat in that housing?

the thermostat and neck on my 2000 was one sold piece there wasn't tny gettin it out

I pulled mine off today and found out it was a two piece, housing plus thermostat. Its suppose to be one unit, come to find out the water pump was replaced and they now use 2004 model water pumps as replacemants. Just an FYI
