about a week and a half ago i went to start the car and the starter wouldn't shut off until i disconected the battery. so i replaced the starter and the starter solenoid. then it worked for about a week, and it did it again. so i replaced the solenoid and it was fine. and now today it did it again so i replaced the ignition switch and the solenoid. it worked for 10 mins. and did it again. i have gone through 5 starter solenoids. i'm not sure what else to look for i changed some fuseable links and checked all fuses. what else is left. please help......

Must have an open ground somewhere in the wiring. Something is giving the starter a constant signal. My car did the same thing but was fine after I replaced the solenoid. I would start by going over all connections and making sure they are tight and clean. After that run 1 wire at a time, one may be skinned somewhere and you just havent seen it when replacing parts. If you have a testlight you may be able to find a wire that goes hot with the key in START position and is supposed to be dead when the key is in the RUN position, but that stays hot instead. That would tell you either you switch never broke the connection between start and run or the wire is getting juice from something else that goes hot when the key is on. Thats all I know to tell you. Hope I didnt confuse you. Sounds like you have tryed the simple things, now it gets time consuming. Best of luck to you though. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Hope this helps.

ok for about a week and a half i thought it was fixed and today it did it again, the starter would not stop turning over until i dissconected the battery. i already replaced the starter solenoid 3 times, the starter and the ignition switch. i checked all the fuseable links on the solenoid and there fine. the plug at the switch looks good too. i don't know what to do. what else could be doing this? please help.... :banghead:

Check the wires on your steering column that run to the ignition switch. See if maybe they have gotten hot or the coating has somehow weakened to the point of showing bare wires. I'd say maybe the wire that goes hot while your key is in the start position is getting power from something even after you switch the key back to the run position. I would reccomend unhooking your starter while you are checking on this so that you dont damage it or your flywheel. Best of luck to you. If you dont find any problems there but your starter is still not cutting off after you crank it then follow the wires all the way from the key to the starter itself. Something is bound to be transfering the power over to your starter when it is not supposed to be. Is this a constant problem or does it just happen every now and then? Got me stumped...
