I am interested in replacing the OEM muffler. Am going to stick with a single exhaust. No dual. Might do a cat back. What do you recommend?
Thanks!

Borla and Corsa are my two favorites. Do a search. There are countless threads on this topic. One last word of advice, go stainless.

I have a flowmaster 40 series. I enjoy it a great deal. Gives it a great throaty sound, and a decent price. I also ended up with .5 MPG better. not much, but it adds up............after a year. hehe

Well I got the flowmaster 40 for my '03 silverado this June hoping for a bit more mileage and my plan back fired ! I used to get around 400 miles to my 27 gal tank before the muffler and now I have to run it damn near dry to get close to 380 miles to the whole tank. Whats up with that !! Can someone explain?

I can. Flowmasters suck. I have one and despise it. IT didnt help my power any, and its loud as hell inside the cab. I'm thinking of cutting my cats b/c theyre clogged and putting factory muffler back on.

i like my flowmaster, but with just exhaust did not see much power till i did my intake then together it made a difference in power and mpg. it depends on your budget. whole flowmaster set up for like 200-300 and others 500-1000. if u got the cash use it.

what are u looking for? sound, performance, price?I am looking for an increase in low and midrange torque with no HP loss.
I put a Flowmaster 50 series (non Delta Flow), dual exhaust on my old truck and it was loud with some amount of cabin resonance.
I am considering either a Flowmaster 70 series or a 50 series Delta Flow. I understand the delta flows are quieter.
Currently, I have stock air box with a K&N filter. I plan on installing a "cold air" type of air box setup and possibly a new mass air flow sensor from Granatelli Motor Sports.
I have been trying to learn about exhaust systems. For trucks, a muffler that increase HP at higher RPM, can hurt torque at lower RPM. Don't want to do that.

How in the hell do you not have resonance? Mine resonates you out of the damn cab sometimes!!! Its not abd when driving around town, but on long trips, it'll drone you to sleep, or insanity!

well I did get a hp increase but lost mileage with my super 40. I took the side scoop off the factory air box w/ k +n and took out the stupid screen @ the MAS it was doing great on mileage until the super 40. go figure?

I installed a Magnoflow on my RX7TT a couple years ago and it sounded pretty good and didn't get too loud until you hit 8-9k revs. How does yours sound on your truck? I don't want anything too loud. I was very impressed with the muffler quality and so was the mechanic who installed it. He's use to installing Flowmasters.

its got a real deep tone to it. I guess it kind of sounds more racey like. I dont really know how to explain it.
go here: http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/04trucks.asp
find the silverado ones (theres 2 clips) and that is exactly what it sounds like on my 99 5.3.

Damn that sounds good!! I'd ditch my flowmaster anytime for one of those! Ya think I could keep my eixisting single in dual out setup and keep the pipes that are already run?
