You should be thanking Allah or Jeebus you get such good mileage!! I just bought an 01 silverado 5.3 and I am watching the gas gauge NOT move either!!! I am used to my 1977 Ford with a 400CID, where 8-9mpg was a good week. I think I am in the high teens, or maybe 20MPG with my silverado
Is that right?

well my truck is a 95 silverado and today when coming home .....it was still in between 3/4 and full.....but as soon as i hit an exit ramp and slow down the needle moves to 3/4 and just a bit pass it....so im guessing that its frozed up in the tank....gonna gas it up today and see whats going on ...hopefully i am getting greast milage ...hahahhahaha...but with a 5.7 350?????hahahaha

In all the chevys I have had, beginning in the 60's, the gas gauge was never accurate. They would drop all of a sudden. The ford gauge was the most accurate. Go figure

The guage was always accurate ...to a point....Im just wondering if the float inside the tank is stuck but the only thing like i said is that the needle moves when i drive down or up an exit ramp or make turns ....gonna gas up today and see how much it takes i know its 22gal and $51.00 later and its full...hahahaahaha

I know with my silverado the first quarter of the gas gauge is almost 11 gallons, which it almost half the tank capacity. It has been showing the same thing for 34000 miles. First quarter would last a long time and then it would free fall

After 5000 miles in three weeks I saw 150 miles at 3/4 tank, 225 at 1/2 tank, 350 at 3/4 tank and then free fall to the red zone at 400 miles. Very consistant every tank.

I got 408 miles to my last tank. I had .7 of a gallon left in the tank when I filled up and it showed a bit past the red. Seems to me that the last quarter tank just dissappears.

408....damn, i envy y'all......i'm getting like 215 out of each of my tanks and i usually put in around 20 gallons........i havent calculated the diameter difference between stock and my tires now but still..........thats a hell of a difference......

Im on my first full tank since I bought my truck 2 weeks ago!! I will have exact MPG when I fill her up again. I use the cruise control every chance I get. I also noticed that I have the 3.73 rear end, i thought that would reduce MPG...hmmmmm

I'm swapping my 93 tune for an 87 one...gas in Statesboro was almost 2.60 for 93 octane. I can't afford to pay that when I'm driving 200+ miles one way every weekend down there. I know this last tank I got about 390 miles and that was with the cruise set on 85 on I-16. Oh well, go figure.
