Just to help any person in the same situation...
My 96 astro start heating, after a quick check, I found a very low colant level, I check for any broken hose or leak...nothing easy to find....we refill it, after 2 weeks, again the same problem, but now it was clear to see drops of colant falling from the front passanger side shock,...with the hood open, nothing look wrong or no signs of colant(orange so it is easy to see), it look like the leak was coming from under the a/c accumulator, I toke the tire out and look behind the rubber covers and found a 4 way valve(plastic body), I have no idea what it was for, after some internet research, found this is the heater valve (p/n 74854 at advance auto parts) the drops come from it....all the hose and connections look great, but the valve it self have a shaft that drive it one or the other way...from the shaft coming to the valve body I found the leak....no possible to fix, the internal seal of the shaft is dead.....it cost 40 dollars to buy a new one....so, If you loose colant, and dont see any of the main radiator hose broken, take a look in that area also.....
