installing glow gauges

just bought a reverse glow gauge kit and trying to install them. i got the plastic sheild out and the instrument cluster, but the outer shell that goes over the gauges is hard to remove, i cant get the tabs out. does any one know how to do this? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
