I really need some help here, and would appreciate a professional opinion or info from anyone with similar problems. Ok here goes... I have a 89 z24 which was abused by its former owner and afterward sat for about 4-5 years started occasionally. I went thru the trouble of replacing the motor which had a cracked block, motor mounts, fuel lines, brake lines and several other problems. During the motor install I drained the torque converter and refilled it, replced the trans filter and all fluids. Ran like a champ and still does. I got about 2000 miles on her and suddenly after startup one day the tranny quit shifting properly. All the gears apperar to be there still. However, it has a delayed shift, shit! It takes 4,500 rpm to go into second gear then bang it shifts? Third works as well but it takes highway speed to get her there. I tore down the valve body, all shift valves, shift servo, governer, cleaned everything and put it all back together with new valve body gaskets. I still have the same damn problem 4,500 rpm shift! Maybe I missed something? Torque converter bad? Im not a trans expert but need one real bad, I have a 6 month old daughter with doctors appts to make. Thanks the DOC!

So basically your shift points are raised. I'm not sure about your year of car, but i have a 93. If you take the plastic cover off the side of the throttle body, where your acceleration pedal is attached to, you will see a screw inside. That screw, depending on which way its turned, will raise/lower your shift points. Try it, and hopefully it works. If not, try and get some Lucas Transmission Fix. It helps slow shifting, etc.

Ive got the lucas in there already, no differance. Tv cable is disconected as I thought it might be sticking. No changes. I really dont want to drop the tranny out, Ill send it to the crusher first if I didnt have so much time and $ in it already! I have an 89 2.8 liter v6 and its alittle differant than the 93 setup I beleive. Sumbody have any other ideas Im really frustrated here.

throttle pressure cable, it goes from your tranny to your throttle body, (unless thats what you mentioned in your last post...) if you have it disconnected though i dont think (keyword: think) your car would shift AT ALL

Since the Z has been previously abused tyhen neglected... sound like the tranny has seen it's last, you can ajust all you want but is the clutches are burned out .... dead.... I'd rebuild or swap....

just my 2 cents...
