Help ! Both of my front windows have gone out in my 2002 Z24. They will go down, but it takes a day to get them to go back up. We have to make 5 - 10 trips out to the car, roll up what will go up, then rest again, go back and do the same thing. Eventually, the windows will be all the way up.

My question is, is this each individual window motor, or could it be something in the switches that you pust to make the windows go up and down? This control is located in the front seat between the two seats and controls all 4 windows. My back windows move really slow compared to other vehicles also. Can it be fixed without taking it to the repair shop?

I want to help my husband out with this one.

Thanks

I totally understand what you mean. Our cavalier does the exact same thing. Only its the driver side window. Its like it needs to recharge before if can go up again.

When and if I find out the solution I will let you know.

Bad motor or possible a fuse? Not getting enough power at one time to go up.....maybe the fuse would'nt have anything to do with it. If it only goes one direction and not the other then it could only mean that i'm glad I have manual windows.

Hah! My guess would be the motor could be going out. Does it go down quickly or does it take some time to go down also?

hell yea...manual windows are the shiznit  never fail unless you crank er too hard and break the handle...and its not as much weight which helps on the track..only thing i hate about manual windows is when someone is on the passenger side of the car..like at an intersection or just parked and you have to lean over and crank the window open to talk to them where as a manual would come in handy cuz you would just press the button..but its a fair trade.

Most likely your motors are failing. First I would take the door panels off and clean out all the window tracks and lubricate them with a silicone spray. See what the windows do then.

My guess is that your motors are just weak. Not an uncommon problem unfortunately. There are numerous threads in this (and parent) forum on just that.

Replacing the motors isn't real hard. The hardest part is removing the steel rivets. An angle grinder makes quick of them, but a drill with real, sharp bits or a dremel can also be used.

i think its a common cavi prob. mine does it too. drivers side mostly on mine.usally when it rains is when it acts up. it dont sound like the motor because it doesnt make a whining noise or sound at all actually. i think mine is the electrical system. it might actually be a recall. i would check that possibility out to. but i usally forget to check when im online. well gotta run peace out
