blinker madness

my frt drivers blinker keeps crapping out.

I get the very fast blinking on the dashboard light and the derectional light in the front does not light or blink.

I pull the plastic lens out to replace bulb and it starts blinking???
put it back and it works for a short time the stops again.

I have replaced the bulb but it is still flacky

97 jetta 2.0 standard 5 speed

There is a recall on the blinker relay/ switch behind the hazard button that makes the crazy tick

ewww yes i have been wondering about that fucking blinker... I will be going there now i thought i might have messed something up with my system

Before you go...

I went to have mine done, they said it would fix the annoying ticking. They swapped it out only to have it happen as I left the dealership. I went back in and they told me that replacing the switch may not fix the problem. The switch is known to cause damage and to other components in the dash and/ or the blinker switch itself.

They told me I needed my blinker lever and components replaced to stop the ticking and it would be about $300.

huh i guess i'll find out monday that's when the got me in thanks for the help man.
