I just got a jeep for my first car from my dad. However we need to repaint it and do some body work. We want to sand blast it but dont know the grit or anything about it. It would be great if someone could tell us what grit to get and how to go about it.

Thx,
Kravlin

Don't sandblast the body it could be bad. When sandblasting the surface that you sandblast becomes very hot due to the friction of sand at high speeds. This can cause warping of the body panels seeing at they are fairly thin. I think the best way to take the paint off would be by hand. Now taking out the dents would be a different story.

The previous poster is correct. Sand blasting can cause panel warping if done improperly, but it still has a place in rust removal. As you suspected there are different materials or "grits" available for the various areas or parts you are blasting. You also will need protective equipment like a hood and gloves. Sand goes all over the place when blasting outside of a cabinet. Try this company to get you started. Besides any body tools you may ever need, they also make a product called rust encapsulator that I can say from experience works great.
