'99 Malibu - Neutral Safety Switch?

Car:
'99 Malibu L4 2.4L Automatic

Issue:
Car is in Park
You cannot turn the key
If you bump the shifter you will be able to start the car.

No other problems.

Sounds to me like a Neutral Safety Switch?

my friends jeep did the same thing and some times he would have to put it into neutral to start it, the problem was the shift linkage was loose so it was not triggering the safty switch or something but not an expensive fix
