98 ford contour gl 2.0lt

I have a 98 ford contour gl 2.0, automatic trans. the transmission wont shift between 1st and 2nd gear by itself. I have to get the rpm's up and I let off the gas just like i was shifting it manualy. and also the overdrive wont work the o/d light flasheswhen I get up to 40-45 mph. any sugestions!!!! thanks in advance , mrtjknapp

wow, weird. Mine did the exact same thing when mine went. is the CEL on?
