accessories

the next items i intend on purchasing for my 05 TB EXT within the next few months are:
side rails/steps (metal tube type)
mud guards (something like the putco mud skin)
sunroof wind deflector
window visors/rain guards

which ones would anyone here recommend, and...where would be a good place to buy these things...either online or a chain store?

I have the "Ventshade" brand on my 02 TB and I like them. I have had quite a few brands of these accessories on different vehicles over the years and they all seem to be pretty much the same. I found the items for my 02 TB at Advance auto parts and Autozone here in Ohio. -Don

-don- doesnt that ventshade brand use 3m double sided 'tape' for those products. wouldnt that mess up your windows. i can see the tape having to be used for the sunroof winddeflector, but there has to be some for the windows that just slide in place without the need for the tape.

I've seen them both ways... with the tape and also the ones that slip into the channel. I have the ones with the tape. They attach to the upper door above the window and do nt interfere with the window in any way. Personally, I prefer the tape as I feel it is a but more secure than the channel slip in ones. -Don

Yes WeatherTech makes the "in-channel" ones w/o the tape.
I love these... they are optically superior (meaning you can see through them very well, without distortion)
They are super thick.
If you are going to tint your front windows, i definately recommend spending the extra $10 for the dark tinted ones, looks nicer. Otherwise, the clear ones are perfect.
(I found the best price online a while ago... I think autobarn?)

I've seen them both ways... with the tape and also the ones that slip into the channel.

Mine fit in the channel AND are held there by tape. The tape is on the "outer" surface of the lip that slips into the channel, and helps hold the visor outward of the window. I doubt the tape is really necessary; the visors fit very tightly in the channel. Oh, the brand is Draw-Tite; I purchased through bsaohio on eBay for ~$40 for the set of four. Someone recently posted here that Draw-Tite has discontinued the TB model...

IMHO, the in-channel visors have a more finished look than the exterior, tape-on type, but that's just personal preference. They don't interfere with the window operation at all, if that is a concern.

FWIW, I recommend bsaohio. Another good accessory shop on eBay is factoryautoparts.

I have a set of 4 in channel visors since Nov04. Had no problems at all with them.

IMHO, as per balboasdelight, in-channel does have a better finished look that the paste on type.

Brand: ventshades

Great for rainy days and hot summer days. I usually leave a tiny crack vent of window down when I am parked to let the heat out. The ventilation is good for prevent odor build up as well. The vent shades draws attention away if you know what I mean.
