alright im working for a dealership and for you people that dont know if you have a vehicle still under warranty you might not want to put a k&n on it. GM and Ford have started to void warranties for cars with the filters on them because the oil off the filters are shorting out the MAF sensors. So before you put on of the car you might want to check your warranty information or talk to a dealership. Just a little FYI

Mushroomxiii, thanks for the tip. Whether under warranty or not, I don't think I need a shorted out MAF sensor. I have a K&N Filter! What is an MAF sensor?

mainly the problems are not happening till people clean them. when they are brand new they very rarely cause a problem. People dont know how to clean them right and when re oiling the filter soak it instead of the light coat your suppose to use and another is they dont wait for them to dry completely. As for definition of the maf sensor is it measures the amount of air entering the engine.

and with out the Mass Air Flow sensor your car will not operate correctly, if at all!

Seeing that you may not be old enough to remember. GM back in the late 60's tried to void warranties on any car that had oil changes done any place other then the dealership. That didn't last too long. The courts put a stop to that.
GM, Ford and Chrysler have tied that kind of crap for years. And it works till some guy that just gets tired of their BS takes them to court. And that ends that.
If you read up on the K&N and GM (AC) filter you'll find the K&N gives better protection then the AC, and better air flow.
I give it to you for backing the place you work. But please don't come on here trying to make them sound like Gods. The last time that happened, people in Detroit started buying "rice burners".
Have a good night.

It has nothing to do with sounding good. Been out here too long for that.
It does have something to do with "I work at a dealers" story. You did say on this thread you made a mistake on the filters.

Its no secret that a bunch of us on the GP forum are no fans of dealers. Plus most of us don't have any warranty left on our Grand Prixs so it wouldn't make a difference.

But consumers have rights too. Just FYI.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!! Per the Moss Magnusson Act it is ILLEGAL for a dealer to try and void your warranty for an air filter, or any other aftermarket part for that matter unless they can PROVE that part contributed to the malfunction.
