hey, i'm in between the process of painting my one car and in the loan take an extra 2 or 3 grand out for a turbo kit, i have 19000 miles on my engine so i figured i'd go for something between 8 and 15psi.
does anyone know where i can find a turbo used or new for under $3000???

you can try an eatons supercharger, the m62 and m90 are said to be for vehicles of 2.5 - 4.0L (m62) and 3.0 - 5.0. vortech has a system for 3,056.95$ for the 94-98 model and one for 3,889.95$ for the 99-00 (im guessing the page hasn't been updated since then but it works for the newer ones 2). for turbochargers, check out tmaturbo.com they have a kit (I believe they are all for 3.8L v6's) for $3300 + $120 for shipping i know it's above the price you said but it's the only one i have found. hope this helped

well to answer both, my car's a 99
and i really like turbos over superchargers, i know theres a huge difference but at the same time not, i'm not getting into why i'd rather turbo. but tma is a good idea. the eaton m90 and m62 are a great way to sc the car but not for the 99+ v6s. the heads are different. the m90 was originally used on the thunderbirds in the early 90s and the only 3.8 that used that could wourk with that are 94-98.
thanks though.

It will prolly require a lot of custom work. Custom manifolds, custom intake piping, custom exhaust routing, custom oil feeds ect ect. But $3k "should" be able to get what you need. Check these sites for supplies:
Phoenix Turbo.com (http://www.phoenixturbo.com)
ATP turbo.com (http://www.atpturbo.com)
They both have a lot of flanges, tubing, couplers, oil lines, fittings, turbos, intercoolers, ect ect. You're gonna need a welder and a lot of cutting tools. I used a wire feed welder with no shielding gas to weld up my downpipe. I also used a reciprocating saw to cut the piping with. A grinder helps out a lot too.
Don't forget about adding fuel, retarding timing and all the tuning stuff. It will truly make or break your setup.
