Tacoma AC noise

I was looking to buy a small truck. I looked at the 2005 Tacoma's on the lot and didn't like the changes except the extended cab had a handle to open it. I like the styling of the 2004. I like the smaller size. A rear opening for the extended cab would be nice. I drove one with the 4 cylinder motor and I would never buy one. Not enough power for me. I next drove the 6 cylinder model and liked that. Only thing I noticed was the AC when I had it on low and at the coldest setting would sometimes make a "hush" sound. I wasn't sure if that was normal. It's the sort of like the sound when you completely turn off the AC, the hush sound it makes. Does anyone else experience that noise with the AC on your Tacoma?

I would have gone with the Dodge Dakota except that Toyota hit the 05 Tacoma with steroids and now can compete with the Dakota in size. We all know it is miles ahead in quality. I opted for a double cab and short bed although I was originally looking for the long bed double cab. That combination is as big as the Tundra in wheelbase.
I did not experience the "hush" sound with the A.C. in my truck and so far it is a great package overall.

I don't run lo fan speeds with max AC setting so haven't noticed, but I suspect you are hearing the AC compressor cycling on and off as evaporater coils get cold and the thermostat senses temperature changes. If that is what you are hearing it's normal. AC is more efficient with higher fan speeds and the thermostat at less than the max cold position.
