E-Brake

Hi guys, this 1986 CRX I got has a very cruddy ebrake. It seems like there's so much slack in the line. If I pull it all the way up, I can push the car with not that much force. I also notice that it won't stay down, it's like I can 'dribble' it like a basketball at the bottom. I'm wondering if the line is just stretched out from usage or what? It's crazy, thanks for the help in advance!

inspect the line and your rear brakes. could be a loose bolt, stretched line, or worn brakes. other than that, i don't know.

Okay, I'll have to look at that. It worries me seeing how you could in a way just up and take the car with the brakes like it is.. haha. Thanks again for the reply.

when i bought my 85 crx the front brake pads were worn thinner than a dime :D. it's $350 to replace, but i think i'm going for the big brake swap off an 86-89 acura integra.

I need to get some brakes for this thing. You know anything about that swap? If you do send me a link or something. I'm still very novice with this car and I have a lot of work to do on it. Also is the ebrake something that gets replaced on this swap? I haven't looked yet because I honestly don't know what to look at or for. Thanks again.

try this link http://www.redpepperracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=648 , if you're just swapping the front brake calipers and rotors then you don't need to replace the master cylinder. it only affects your parking brake if you swap the rear brakes too.

Thanks for the link, I've been on RPR for a few days now and I like it. I'm working on doing some cool stuff to the crx.
