Just beat my first mustang today :)

Raced my first mustang today, for a good.. 10 secont stretch id say, light to light, being a guy who hates fords this was great for me, and when i got home i gave the little girl a kiss on the hood.
Couple punk kids were sitting in their red little mustang, had to mess around with them just a bit.. didnt think theyd go for the bait, but anyway, i squealed the tires a little even on the start by accident, and still got them real good..
It was pretty close for about the first 3 seconds, once it was getting up there in the gears, but after it got where it likes to be, it was all over, slowly started to see them drift further and further back in the rearview... Loved it, so far im 3 and 0... other 2 being local ricers, this is my first big accomplishment :)
But like i was saying, it was a bit close on the acceleration, what are some easy to install things i could bolt on without much of an effort, like rebuilding the tranny or anything like that... something fairly simple as im lacking both expearence and time...

well, sorry I can't offer any acceleration tips but congrats on the kill!

ok 92 RS... What engine is in it? Manual or Automatic Trans? We can't help much unless you give us some information to go off of here...

I believe the basics are Exhaust and Intate as the first things....?

automatic, with overdrive, v8 of course... :)

Even if you can't do it yourself gears would probably be the best thing to put in.

I'll back up balls_to_the_wall to though because a good exhaust and intake system will make a world of difference.

Well, other than a stupid chick in a V6. I didn't even run it over 3500 RPM's to beat that.

Most won't race. Never had a chance to race a 03/04 Cobra. That and my car isn't out that much.

nah, was a v8, when we got to the next light, he was impressed, didnt think it would take him, said he had (something made by ford) but it was a v8... asked what i had, he was pretty friendly, but still pretty pissed at the same time...

not to chime in and be a butthead or anything lol. but a 4.6 is not a 302 at all. i had a 97 4.6 5spd wit 3.73 gears. it was by no means a beast but im not sure an RS like his would take it. sounds to me like u guys r right and hes got a real nice runnin 305 or that guy in the mustang is an idiot and cant drive. a 302 mustang is a completely different animal. im not a big 302 fan. and before u guys murder me id like to point out i am a chevy guy. o and Luos settle down hahaha. ur car will pretty much own 99% of all GTs ridin around. thats y they wont race, its not worth it. the cobra would be interesting tho...

ya your right sorry about that...i dont know much about stangs.a 4.6 is like a 280 or something like that.and what you said about the mustang driver being an idiot makes sense. i remember when my rs was stock i couldnt beat a v8 mustang. so either the guy couldnt drive, he had something wrong with his car, it was actually a v6, or he doesnt have a normal 305.

i damn sure couldnt beat no gt when i was stock and my rs came faster than both of you alls did. maybe he had a sick horsy...awwww too bad. mustang races are fun for the main reason its a good old school race that keeps going through time. thats sweet u got u sum its always fun killing a pony, i do it all the time

Well I dont know why he has an Eclipse, I know I would get one if I couldnt afford a camaro at the time. So no need to shove it in his face, John though would tell you his back story, Im sure he knows it. Im sure he knows his Eclipse wont be as fast as a Z28, unless a turbo comes in the picture.

well boys I have a 92 rs and I will race about anything once I have a 305 tbi a 5 speed and 3.23 gears on a disc brake rear end I have owned it for 4 years and when I got it had it dyno tested and she poped out around the 225 hp and 325 torque and now she's is in the shop getting a new heart so she will be back ans I will be pushing the numbers up to 500hp and 500 torque cause 383 built and chip mods to acompany them along with the sufram connectors and strut tower brace and 9in aftermarket rear with 3.42 gears I plan to have some fun but let me say congradulations to you on betting a pusstang cause that is what is all about we can beat them any day on road course but the are much lighter on straight runs but we will get eventually

And i never have thought my Eclipse was faster than a camaro, i just bought it because it was convenient and helped my friend afford to start a new life elsewhere. And it is turbocharged...obviously... Like i said, i love all cars, i dont believe in brand loyalty.

Sorry to but in but was wondering if this is a good race or not I live in Farmersville so it's easy to find a long length of road ther is one taht leads to my school the road is about 7 miles long with some curves. Usually after school my friend and I race our Camaros which we are restoring well at least him right now he owns a 69 Camaro Z28 350 and I own a 1988 Camaro IROC Z and we race down the road we both spin out at least 3 seconds and both shoot off the bad thing is my speedometer only reads to 115 mph but still goes and we race neck to neck but I come out winning almost everytime his speedometer goes to 150 mph but he goes over all the time but dom't know how fast i'm going. We go at least 120 around the corners no problem. Just wondering if u all think that might be a good race and thank u for replies.

damn josh thats a messed up story, sorry u had to spend your time in va beah in the hospital...been there a time or two when i use to live there, and also i would beg to differ that an eclipse cant beat a z28 because if u remember a old post i had waaaay back when i was talking about my old gst that had its moment of fame in import tuners (yes i was a import guy) and it pushed out over 360hp and i use to murder mustangs and yes ls1 cars on a daily. i dont bash imports because i was good at making them real fast, its cheap and easy and because they are made of plastic and weigh 100pounds (being funny) they are quick. hell im having a much harder time getting this camaro to do what i want but its getting there. also what ever happend to your z28 man, i hope u didnt put it into a wall or anything like that. which brings me to hommie from farmville...that is the smallest county i ever drove through i sware if u and your boy are racing its from county line to county line because its about a 1/4 mile in distance long. thats the home of RAGE she was cool back in the day wit afro puffs but thats about all that came outta that place. and a word of wisdom in va if they catch u drag racing they will take your car 4ever. ive done it and im telling u the look on peoples face when they get cuffed and informed that their car is now state property (common wealth property) they look like they just got raped so be careful man

The 94 and 95 mustangs were a 302, the 4.6 in the 96- current mustangs is a 281. The 289 was in the original mustangs of the 60s. There was a 95 cobra R with a 351, and the few mustangs that have ever had a 5.4 are a 326 I believe.

someone correct me if i am wrong but i thought all camaro's 87 up had speed limiters at 117mph and i know that my 92 cuts out at 117 and it is a little on the nose lightened side at 115mph so something sounds out of place to me there

If the car came from the factory with speed rated tires (ie ROC, Z-28, T/A or Formula) the speed limiter was set to 255mph

mine came new with good year eagles rated at a z rating and it is set at 117 so that is incorrect

I might have an aftermarket chip because when I drove it home the first time on the highway some bum bum guy was right on my but for a while so i stomped on it and watched him get farther and farther away in my mirrors and then i look down at my speedo it said 120 and it scared the crap out of me(and gave me warm fuzzy feelings) It was still pulling too. havent done that since though. I believe my speedo might be off though. It makes a buzzing noise when Im at low speeds like if I just idle and the needle dosent move. Im not sure what I should do about that though.

whats a 4th gen v6 governor hit? i heard 117 i've only done 88 once in my maro and barley broke 80 a few other times. I have had it for like 8 months now
