For about a year now ever since my friend crashed his mustang and bought a 5th gen prelude, i fell in love with the car and the sound of the engine. Unfortunetly I cant afford to drop that much money on a car for a few years but I can build a car over time. Last week I found a 1992 prelude in front of one of the shops I make deliveries too, I looked at the registration and inspection and it has around 70k miles on it and hasnt been on the road since 03. Its black, with black tinted windows, very low suspension, sun roof and amazingly lucky for me, a 5speed transmission. I offered the guy 200$ and he took it. The engine is blown and im pretty sure its the 160hp engine. I would like to put in the 190hp H22a that came stock in these cars. I just have a few questions to clear somethings up for myself.

Alright, I understand that the H22A is a pretty direct swap. I have searched online and this forum and it answered alot of my questions but i still have a few.

1. How much do junkyard H22A's run for (about)?

2. The wireing, do i use my H23A harnesses and then run a few wires for the vtec?

3. The sound of the engine, my friend has a 5th gen prelude vtec and it absolutly screams even tho its stock everything, will an engine that came in the 92 to 96 prelude (stock h22a) be as loud?

4. Has anyone here have a shop install the engine for them? How much did it cost you guys?

Price depends on where to look. Ive seen as low as 1200. The 5th gen H22s are suposedly a little quieter than the h22s that came in the 4th gens So yes it will be as loud, but why get an 4th gen h22a1 when you could just get a JDM h22a? Its up to you. I say you need to research a little more.
