okay i had some simple questions maybe someone can help me with,,,
ok my 88 civic si broke down in march of 2005 due to the clutch well it sat for a couple months now im having water come out of my muffler and white smoke but not too much just a little bit... it seems like the harder im pushing on the gas pedal the little more comes,,,,when i take my foot of the gas pedal it go's away....
okay the next thing is my radiator is acting funny...before my top hose was cold and my bottom was hot....now since i put in a new thermastat my bottom is cold and my top is hot its backwards now...but my bottom hose gets hot after about 5-10 minutes of letting the engine run... the other day i let the system bleed while the engine was running and air came out and then anti freeze starting flowing through the radiator,,,, now since i put anti-freeze in 3 days later it dont seem like it flows through the radiator my hose's both get hot but when i take the cap off i see air pockets ....
what are the steps i gotta take when putting in anti-freeze... and how do i bleed air out the rite way.....
also my vavle cover or "cylinder head cover" does not bolt down all the way like the rubber valve seal gasket keeps falling out....could that be why a little white smoke is coming out???
thanks for reading all this stupid stuff but please help me out.,.. thanks!

white smoke is burned coolant..you've got coolant in your cylinders.

well 5-10 mins at idle is about right for the stat to open in the back of the head to allow the coolant to circulate through the bottom hose. remember top hose real hot and car overheating or above normal op temps is most likely a frozen stat. as for the valve cover not bolting down right well u should go to Honda and order new valve cover bolts and bolt gaskets.. the back 3 are longer then the front.. maybe u got that fudged up who knows. the white smoke.. well i had that problem with my car sitting for long periods of time.. but once i got it out on the road i no longer had the white smoke. and when i had coolant i just keep pumping the top hose.. and fill it up till the top is full and fill resevoir to the line that says cold. now these are problems i had might be a lil diff then urs.. keep in mind u could have a blown head gasket and stripped threads with the valve cover. so g/l dude
