Piston Slap

I believe the hard knocking noise that comes from my engine when cold, and mildly when warm is the result of what I've read to be called "piston slap"...the engine is a JDM D15B. I recently spent oooodlless of money on this engine and now it has started developing this problem which my old engine had for quite awhile. I don't believe I have any warranty left on this engine and I'm thinking I'm probably screwed and my engine could quit at any time leaving me stranded. Is there any way I can reduce this or anybody have any idea why my new engine developed this? I drive this engine like a grandma, but I have accidentally bounced it off the rev limiter when I thought it was in gear once, could that have caused this issue? Thanks :(.

reving it up wont cause this. what happened is the engine was probably not exactly as it was beign a jdm engine they give a average of the mileage and also thats it runs but it doesnt mean it wasnt hotrodded until the poitn were its about to do that but still works. so really strip the motor and do a rebuild is what i say. and you might wanna check your cam. you could have a damaged cam lob. it happened to my old parts car. it knocked like no other.

so I've driven the car with this noise for almost 10,000 miles...how much longer would you say it will go until it quits, I know there's no way to tell exactely but any estimates? Also the engine didn't make this noise when I got it originally so what would make it start doing this, never had a low oil condition either.

well jsut the fact of it jsut kidna wearing out. or it was a miss treated motor. but really what could cause this is numerous hting most of which i couldnt begin to tell you. alot of it could jsut be warn old parts. i mean 4th gens are between 14 and 16 years old really.
