Where to find kit values (Like baseball cards)?

I just bought an old kit, a Revell Mr. Sandman pickup and off-road buggy kit, and I paid a fair amount for it but I planned to build it. It arrived still in the original shrink wrap so now I'm a bit hesitant. Is there some kind of a guide for kit values as I though I had heard?
I will probably build the kit unless it's worth some crazy amount.

Kits are not like baseball cards or comic books. They have no real inherent value, except for what you can get someone to pay for them on Ebay. Very few are what would be considered collecters items. If you're curious, check what that kit has sold for recently on Ebay, but remeber- that is not what the kit is worth- it's only what a particular individual was willing to pay for it.

Well since I won it, I was the only one dumb enough to pay a lot for it apparently: Not good odds of finding another guy like me out there. Well, maybe blubaja.....
I thought there was some guide, but that may have just been for die-casts. I'll tear into it I guess, it's just got me thinking about it now. if the damn thing was open I'd be de-spruing parts already LOL
