Trouble with window regulator

HELP!!! It's getting pretty darn hot here in SD lately, and I can't roll down my front passenger window! On top of that AC is not working. I have a 1990 Corolla 4 dr. I took the top panel off the door, and did find that one nut and one bolt in the bottom of the door that I think might go to the regulator. I sliced my hand good just reaching in to retrieve them. Anybody know how to get to the regulator safely? Not looking forward to spending $$$ at a dealership if I can do it myself. THANK YOU!!!

since you have the panel off, you should see the motor and regulator. before removing them....have you checked your fuse or window switch? if you haven't do so first...will save you the trouble. you can check the switch by unplugging the connector to the window motor....hook up a test light to the connect that mates up to the window motor connector. move the switch up and down and check for power. if you have power...then it would be the motor/regulator. to remove the motor/regulator....remove the bolts that hold the motor and regulator in. you may want to ask someone to help you hold the glass. since the window won't come down...carefully slide it down once you have motor & reg unbolted to a point where you can see the bolts that hold the glass to the reg. once the unbolt the glass...carefully remove it...now you should be able to work the motor and regulator out. expect to pay 80-120 for the part....or at least that about how much it is here in dallas. good luck
