Routing the bov?

While looking for an intake pipe, I've noticed that you can get them with and without the bov air recycler thing, so i was wondering what the difference is and what happenes when you have the bov venting into the atmosphere rather back into the intake?

Sometimes it messes with the AF ratio, especially after you et off the gas (when air would return to intake) this is because the air has already been measured by the MAF and is then released. On my 90 gs-t if i take the return line off it runs like shit, but my brother has a 2g gs-t with the HKS SSQ bov and it is fine, this may be because of the different air sensors. On my talon i have my BOV before my maf so it's not a problem.

you could GM MAF that is a gain it self! Then you could vent with no problem. Mine killed the motor every time i let off the gas with the clutch in..

You need the GM MAFT setup (GM MAF and MAF Translator) to vent properly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'll run rich if you vent your bov when your car still has the stock mas because some of the metered air is not going back into the intake so there is more fuel than air in the mixture.
GM MAFT replaces your stock mas and people usually locate it between the bov and the throttle body for blow thru mode. This setup allows you to vent, adjust air/fuel ratio and fuel trims (base, idle, mid, wot in 5% and 2% incriments). Also, if you get bigger fuel injectors you can adjust the translator to compensate for them. If you get a bigger turbo it also helps with quicker spool-up time. Remember to get a logger because you'll need to monitor the changes when you adjust the translator.
